EcoWorld 2 - Powershift Transmission
Six speeds with integrated reversing function
Key Facts
Fuel efficiencyFuel savings of up to 20 % over hydrodynamic transmissionsOptimal accelerationTorque converter makes the starting process efficientCost efficiencyRepowering extends service life and reduces operating costs
ZF’s six-speed powershift transmission ZF EcoWorld 2 features an integrated reversing function and is used in DMUs (diesel multiple units) and multiple purpose vehicles. It enables a towing and coasting function which can save additional fuel depending on the route, engine type and load condition. The transmission achieves maximum efficiency and is equipped with a powerful torque converter.

The fuel savings reported are based on an internal comparative test conducted by ZF. Results may vary depending on vehicle configuration, route profile, engine, load and operating conditions.
Repowering
ZF’s Repowering solutions aim at reducing fuel consumption and thus lifecycle costs as well as at extending the service life of the rail vehicles. In the repowering process, outdated driveline technology is replaced by modern, efficiently working driveline components.
EcoWorld 2 is already being used successfully in repowering projects at Irish Rail and Porterbrook Leasing.
