Chassis Technology. Always One Step Ahead

Driving Smart into the Future

ZF is the world’s leading supplier of components and systems for passenger car chassis technology. We continuously expand our portfolio of innovative solutions to achieve even greater control of longitudinal, lateral, and vertical vehicle dynamics. We are pioneers in the development of X-by-Wire technology and in the use of software and sensors in chassis systems. They are both key enablers of the software-defined vehicle. Our expertise in connectivity enhances safety and comfort.

X-by-Wire Technology

At ZF, X-by-Wire means replacing the conventional mechanical connections in braking and steering systems with electronic signals and actuators.

Brake-by-Wire and Steer-by-Wire are essential for the precise intervention of driver assistance systems, such as collision avoidance and emergency braking assistance. In addition, X-by-Wire technology creates greater flexibility and more space within the vehicle interior.

cubiX

cubiX is a modular, centralized chassis control software platform. It intelligently connects all active chassis systems, including brakes, dampers, steering, and the powertrain. cubiX coordinates these components in real time, ensuring seamless interaction between them. By controlling all systems as one integrated unit, the vehicle responds more precisely and safely - especially in critical situations.

AKC and EasyTurn

With AKC rear-wheel steering and EasyTurn, ZF offers two highly innovative steering technologies.

When combined, they significantly reduce the turning radius and make parking easier. With AKC, the rear wheels actively steer along with the front wheels. Depending on vehicle speed, AKC either improves maneuverability by reducing the turning circle or enhances driving stability. EasyTurn front-axle steering enables a wheel steering angle of up to 80 degrees, making it ideal for maneuvering and parking in cities.

CDC and Smart Chassis Sensor

Continuous Damping Control (CDC) is an electronically controlled, adaptive damping system designed to maximize ride comfort and safety. Multiple sensors continuously provide CDC with data to ensure the optimal damping force at all times.

The Smart Chassis Sensor is integrated into the wheel suspension and replaces conventional ride-height sensors. It delivers essential data for a wide range of functions, including the control of active and semi-active chassis systems, headlamp leveling, and predictive maintenance.
