ZF and Link-Belt Cranes look back on a long partnership: Link-Belt has relied on ZF technology for over 20 years now. Today, ZF supplies its TraXon automated transmission system for several Link-Belt crane models, a universal solution for a wide range of applications in medium and heavy-duty special vehicles and mobile cranes.

How ZF sent a hybrid truck to take on the desert

A rally truck is exposed to extreme conditions: During the Dakar Rally for example, it has to fight many thousands of kilometers through meter-high dunes and deep canyons. In order to withstand continuously operating in dusty, and sandy conditions, reliable components with a robust design are required.

For the Dakar Rally 2020, ZF has electrified an off-road vehicle for the first time. The centerpiece of the newly developed hybrid driveline is a central electric drive. Besides the electric motor, ZF also supplies integrated power electronics and the hybrid control unit, including the software. An automatic transmission and a transfer case from ZF convert the truck into an all-wheel off-road vehicle.
