ZF's FSC-R yaw damper is a passive hydraulic solution where no electronic connection is required to allow the rotational movement of the bogies in thight curves. Normal design intend of a yaw damper is to reduce the rotational movement of the bogies at higher velocities. This requires a high damping response / high damping. However, if a train is passing a switch or a sharp corner this high damping force is acting against the rotation of the bogie.

Our uniquely designed Frequency Selective Damper valve however is opening at defined frequencies and releases the pressure in the damper with the results of an easier rotation of the bogie without compromising on vehicle stability (safety) at high train velocities.
