ZF has developed a separately excited synchronous machine which relies on inductive energy transmission and overcomes the disadvantages of a classic separately excited electric machine. An inductive exciter is installed in the rotor shaft itself. This achieves maximum efficiency and power density in the smallest possible installation space - and is on eye-level with permanent-magnet synchronous machines.
