Quality

QD83 - Global Supplier Quality Directive

Quality is essential to success. In the competitive environment, quality is no longer a differentiating factor, it is a basic requirement. ZF customers expect reliable, zero-defect products and services.

Quality Performance

The quality of ZF products is significantly influenced by the quality performance of the company’s suppliers. Along with a quality management system based on IATF/16949, ZF requires suppliers to adopt effective measures to ensure the quality of all products and processes.

A key element for a successful partnership with our suppliers of Production Materials is our Global Supplier Quality Directive: QD83

The requirements outlined in the 2018 edition of QD83 describe the current Customer Specific Requirements of ZF. The current standards of the automobile industry such as VDA and AIAG shall be applied.

QD83 replaces the former Quality Directives of QR83 (edition 2011) from ZF and GSQM from TRW.
QD83 Edition 2018 was published on November 24, 2017 and has been effective since January 1st, 2018.

The following QD83 Sanctioned Interpretations were determined, approved and published by ZF.
They are an official part of QD83 2018. They contain either necessary corrections of the original text or further explanations, but no additional requirements.
Unless otherwise indicated, the QD83 Sanctioned Interpretations are applicable upon publication.
