The S 20 A-N transmission, specially developed for use in the Desiro Mainline trains, was designed in accordance with highly ambitious requirements: driving noise had to be low, flexibility however high. In parallel, the high demands put forward by ZF in terms of component profitability had to be fulfilled as well.
