Almost endless possibilities
ZF Marine offers a broad portfolio of hybrid transmissions with a power range up to 12,000 kW (ZF 60000 series) in conventional power and a solution for all propulsion models as FPP, CPP or Waterjet. Via power-take-in (PTI), ZF enables the integration of its transmissions with an electric motor and offers tailored solutions for all specific requirements and all applications. In addition, ZF supplies complete systems with flexible couplings, electric pumps, inverters and electric control units.
Features of the ZF hybrid transmissions:
- Wide range of configuration options: PTOs, trolling valves, trailing pumps
- Adaptation of the housing depending on the application (cast iron or light alloy)
- Maximum installation flexibility
- Reversing gearboxes with the configurations DR (diagonal right) and DL (diagonal left) are available
Product highlights
Electrified solutions even with limited installation space
ZF's compact and lightweight down-angle hybrid transmissions are perfect for fast vessels requiring high speeds and offer a suitable solution for any space requirement. The hybrid transmissions are designed for a maximum output of up to 1,940 kW (ZF 3200 A/V PTI) and 3,903 kW (ZF 9200 A/V PTI). The transmission cover a ratio range of i=1.892 to i=4.240 (ZF 3200 A/V PTI) and i=2.300 to i=4.241 (ZF 9200 A/V PTI) for the primary drive.
Thanks to its special gear design, the electric motor can be compactly integrated into the transmission via its own drive shaft. In addition to saving space, this also means that the maximum output of the main drive does not have to be reduced in order to accommodate the additional input of the e-machine. This solution for down-angle transmissions is unique on the market and the ideal choice for a range of fast vessels, such as leisure yachts, ferries or coastguard vessels.

Hybrid power for waterjet vessels
For applications that require high maneuverability and fast response times, such as high-speed ferries, ZF offers hybrid transmissions for waterjet drives with small gear ratios.
The basis for the new hybrid transmission for waterjet vessels is the ZF 3000 series, which has already been in successful use on the market for several years. Customers can therefore count on a robust, durable and powerful drive system in a compact and weight-saving design.
The ZF 3000 NRD PTI is designed for a maximum output of 1,940 kW and 7,560 Nm on the main unit as well as 250 kW and 1,500 Nm on the electric power take-in (PTI). The closely coordinated ratio covers the range i=1.093 to i=2.952.
