Portal Axle for city buses AVN 132
Step-free boarding in articulated buses
Key Facts
What can Portal Axle for city buses AVN 132 provide?
For articulated trolleybuses, ZF offers the non-driven portal axle. Combined with the drive portal axle, AV 133, a more accessible step-free passenger area with no raised platform is realized in the articulated trolleybus. Faster boarding and alighting of passengers and shorter stop times support higher average speeds. This means that more passengers can be transported each day.

Non-driven portal axle
ZF offers the axle up to a complete system including air springs, dampers, and radius rods.
The wheel heads of the AVN 132 equipped with low-maintenance hub units (compact bearings) also reduce the time to replace brake disks. Altogether, the axle system weight is about 800 kilograms. The lowered, weightoptimized axle housing creates additional space for a step-free center aisle.
The non-driven portal axle is designed as an intermediate or tag axle for articulated buses and is suitable for various standard driveline concepts.Wear part compatibility with AV components constitutes a major advantage for OEMs and operators in terms of servicing and cost-effectiveness.
