The Electromechanical Roll Control (ERC) from ZF enables more dynamic driving with greater road safety and increased ride comfort. The ERC creates stabilization torque when cornering, and the control unit adapts the amount of damping during straight-on driving to ensure a comfortable ride. The electrical actuator can be used in mid-range and premium class vehicles, including vehicles with hybrid or electric drives.

Details
Advantages
- ERC is a major contribution in gaining best comfort and safety combined with active vehicle dynamics
- Agile cornering and steering behavior
- Demand-oriented energy consumption
- Integrated sensor and failsafe module
- Minimize roll movement and optional active roll stabilization
- Improve comfort by decouple wheel motions (bumpy road)
- Improve inherent steering behavior - force distribution
Function
Electromechanical roll control actively changes the force on front and rear stabilizer bars during cornering and road surface irregularities to minimize or completely reduce body roll. In addition, optimal self-steering and load change characteristics are generated. On a straight road, the electronic control system adapts the damping level as required and makes for a softer, more comfortable response by the suspension. The Oscillation of the body is reduced, thereby providing the vehicle with a high degree of agility and accuracy across the entire speed range. ERC can be used in middle and premium class vehicles, including vehicles with hybrid or electric drives.
