ZF’s safety functions are developed to assist in helping protect drivers, passengers, and pedestrians through advanced driver support features. The safety functions suite incorporates 360-degree scene interpretation and includes Automated Emergency Braking (AEB), Emergency Steering Support, and Pedal Misapplication control. The systems are sensor-agnostic and adaptable to be used on any platform, including smart sensors or central ECUs.

ZF’s comfort functions like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and Highway Route Following Assist actively support the driver and create a smooth, stress-free driving experience, even in dense urban traffic. ZF’s Level 2+ systems — coASSIST, coDRIVE, and coPILOT — offer a scalable range of automated driving capabilities:

  • coASSIST is the cost-effective entry solution, delivering the most popular ADAS single-lane driving functions and essential parking functions. It meets Euro NCAP 2028 3★ standards and is easy to integrate thanks to its AUTOSAR-based software.
  • coDRIVE adds ultrasonic-based parking and hands-free driving on highways with automated lane changes and route following assist by using 360° surround perception. It meets Euro NCAP 2028 5★ standards.
  • coPILOT is the high-performance solution for full hands-free, feet-free driving in highway and urban environments. It supports fully automated and remote parking functions, real-time surround visualization, and open platform integration for OEMs and third-party software.

Software-as-a-Product: Flexible, Scalable, Future-Proof

Traditionally, many ADAS software functions were embedded in hardware and stored on chips within individual components, such as smart cameras. With the shift toward centralized architectures — where software is deployed centrally — these functions can now be used independently of the hardware.

Therefore, ZF also offers its functions as stand-alone software-as-a-product. OEMs can choose from over 30 functions and integrate them modularly into their platforms. As stand-alone software solutions, ZF Driving Functions are future-ready and compatible with software-defined vehicles and new E/E architectures.
