ZF in Hungary

ZF Hungária Ltd. is engaged in the manufacture and sale of manual, automated and automatic transmissions and their components in Eger, Hungary. Our customers install them in trucks, buses, small commercial vehicles and passenger cars.

ZF Hungária KFT.

Thanks to its continuous development, ZF is one of the world's largest automotive companies, with several product lines at the top of the global sales list. Eger plant of Csepel Autógyár was bought by ZF in 1995. ZF Hungária Kft. started operations on 1 January 1996.

Our company is engaged in the manufacture and sale of manual, automated and automatic transmissions and their components in Eger, Hungary. Our customers install them in trucks, buses, small commercial vehicles and passenger cars.
In addition to product production, we also operate service centers for our parent company. Our employees also participate in global development, production, sales and business development projects. Our IT application development center operates in Eger and Budapest, where we provide high-quality and efficient services in a wide range of technological areas. Similar to our application development office, several departments of our Material Management department are connected to the Corporate Material Management area with "shared service" tasks. Hungarian employees of the Engineering Center and ZF Serviz also participate in international projects. In order to find the best suppliers, we organize domestic and international partner meetings and participate in all major professional forums.

Like the whole Group, ZF Hungária is looking for a solution for further development. In order to meet the growing quality and quantity demands of our customers, we are constantly expanding our technologies, our machine park and with it our technical level.

In the commercial vehicle production area, components are manufactured in an island system with modern semi-automatic machining centres. We mainly use high-performance equipment from Liebherr, Samputensili, Junker, Kapp, Pfauter and EMAG. The hardening of components is carried out in our high capacity heat treatment shop in Aichelin automatic furnaces. The various types of gearboxes are assembled on our own designed assembly lines. We use a card identification system to ensure that each assembly process is carried out only by trained personnel on our assembly lines, which are equipped with a test bench. We sell our world-class products to key international manufacturers and brands in the automotive industry. The components are stocked and productive areas are serviced from our robotised logistics centre.

In October 2018, assembly of ZF 8HP automatic transmissions started at the modern production base in the passenger car production area. In 2019, another modern, complex assembly line was put into operation, which will provide ZF Hungária with further significant capacity expansion and turnover growth. This cutting-edge technology product, which is in high demand on the global market, will be installed in premium vehicles.
After the launch, we are already producing the ZF 8HP version suitable for four-wheel drive for another large customer. On 1 December 2023, the one millionth 8HP automatic transmission was completed in Eger.

Our CSR Activities

Since its establishment in 1996, ZF Hungária Kft. has considered it important to continuously strengthen its role in social responsibility in Eger and Heves County. Our primary goal is to support the activities of institutions, organizations, social groups and associations that directly and indirectly contribute to improving the living conditions of the local population and strengthening their competitiveness.

ZF Hungária Ltd.'s CSR activities seek focal points where it can finance - partly or fully, local community events or the purchase of equipments and facilities that improve community conditions. When allocating our annual support and sponsorship budget, it is important to ensure that all members in society - from young people to the elderly-, and organisations that bring together the healthy and the disabled, also benefit. Therefore, we support not only interesting academic competitions or student days, but we also play an important role in the development of equipment park for health institutions. It is important to recognise young people's organisations where they are doing something for themselves or for the community, because it is important for our company to select our future colleagues from among young people who want to actively develop when planning their future.

In the spring, ZF Hungária Kft. received the title "Reliable Employer" from the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK). This award is given to companies that take care of their employees' work and living conditions in an exemplary and reliable manner. Awarded companies are entitled to use the title for 3 years, so ZF Hungária Kft. can use it between 2024-2026.

This year, in conjunction with the Heves County Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s annual economic kickoff event, Eger’s largest taxpayers were honored and the city’s awards were presented. In 2026, ZF Hungária Kft. received the Pro Agria Economic Award; the company has been a key player in the city’s economic life for 30 years. With its own training workshop and dual training programs, the company has been committed from the very beginning to professional development, talent cultivation, and social responsibility, thereby building not only Eger’s economic strength but also its long-term future.

Our Environmental Responsibility

Environmental responsibility is not only a strategic objective for us but an integral part of our daily operations. Every spring, our employees participate in organized litter‑picking initiatives, directly contributing to improving the local environment and strengthening environmentally conscious attitudes.

We host our annual Sustainability Week with the aim of making the importance of sustainability tangible and personal for our employees. Throughout the program series, we provide clear, practical, and engaging educational content that demonstrates the steps our company is taking in environmental and social responsibility, as well as the individual choices each colleague can make to contribute to a more livable future. As part of the week, we organize tree‑planting activities, encourage an active and health‑conscious lifestyle, and support sustainable mobility solutions—such as cycling to work and reducing car usage.

Our initiative is designed to ensure that sustainability becomes not only a corporate strategy but a shared mindset and everyday practice that strengthens both our community and our commitment to environmental protection in the long term.

Our Sustainability Strategy

Our sustainability strategy is an integral part of our overall corporate strategy, encompassing environmental protection, respect for human rights, fair working conditions, and the fight against corruption. Our corporate governance system is built on the principles of transparency and accountability.

Our Code of Conduct provides clear guidance on fair competition, respect for human rights, non‑discrimination, anti‑corruption practices, and data protection.

The ZF Trustline reporting system — available anonymously in 14 languages and accessible at all times — offers employees and external partners a secure platform for reporting irregularities, including risks and violations related to social responsibility and environmental protection. This applies to the economic activities of ZF Hungária Kft., as well as its subsidiaries and direct suppliers, thereby strengthening organizational integrity. For our suppliers, the mandatory Business Partner Code of Conduct defines expectations related to human rights, occupational safety, environmental standards, and business ethics.

Our parent company prepares an ESRS‑based Sustainability Report annually, which is published on its website. ZF Hungária Kft. will prepare its first ESG report in 2026, covering the year 2025.

Our Climate Goal

The central objective of the ZF Group’s climate strategy is to achieve climate neutrality by 2040. To support this ambition, the company aims to reduce direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) emissions by 80% by 2030 compared to the 2019 baseline, and to decrease value‑chain‑related (Scope 3) emissions by 40% per million of revenue over the same period. Since 2021, our company has ensured that all electricity consumption comes from renewable sources, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of our operations.

With the introduction of the Digital Manufacturing Platform, we are optimizing energy consumption, reducing scrap rates, and improving operational efficiency through the digitalization of our production processes. Strengthening circular-economy principles is also a key focus: in the area of waste management, our target is to achieve an annual, revenue‑adjusted reduction of at least 1% in the amount of waste sent to landfill compared to the 2019 baseline.

Information Security

Our company is committed to ensuring the highest level of information security, as demonstrated by our TISAX certification. This certification confirms that our information security management system meets the strict data protection and security requirements of the automotive industry and operates within a structured, audited control environment.

In response to the continuously evolving regulatory landscape, we have proactively prepared to comply with the requirements of the NIS2 directive. As part of this effort, we are further strengthening our cybersecurity risk management, incident management, and business continuity processes to ensure that our digital operations remain resilient, transparent, and sustainable in the long term. We firmly believe that a high level of information security is not merely a compliance obligation, but a foundation of our business reliability and our partnerships.

The publication of this social responsibility strategy is carried out in accordance with Section 18 (1) of Act CVIII of 2023 on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), which aims to promote sustainable finance and unified corporate responsibility.
