Sustainability@ZF Slovakia
Sustainability is one of the biggest challenges of our time. At ZF we know that acting sustainable means:
- taking responsibility for climate and nature
- for people
- for lasting values.
What we do now, and how determined we are in our actions will be decisive for future generations, for our planet and, of course, for our success at ZF.

Profile of ZF Locations in Slovakia
R&D Center in Trnava
At the R&D Center in Trnava we follow the strategy to develop and produce technologies for the mobility of the future and setting the pace in the dynamic electro mobility market.
Our engineers create and adapt to new trends in the automotive industry, offering greater efficiency of e-motors, smaller and lighter systems, higher performance, and shorter charging battery times.
We are proud on developing components for hybrid and electric powertrains.
Trnava
In Trnava, ZF is located on the premises of the former Trnavské automobilové závody (TAZ). The modern production plant has been producing clutches, dual mass flywheels and hydrodynamic converters since 1993. The company currently employs 1,500 people and, in addition to the production and assembly of the above-mentioned products in Trnava, development and testing also takes place at the plant.
The company focuses on green production, sustainable growth and is increasingly investing in preparing its employees, premises and production facilities for the arrival of Industry 4.0. Since the beginning of its production in Trnava and in Slovakia, it has been committed to the safety and social security of its employees.
The Development Department was established in 2005 with the main purpose of supporting serial production at the Trnava plant. New designs are created through computer-aided design (CAD). State-of-the-art simulation software enables various mechanical and thermal calculations, and product concepts are tested on test stations and in the vehicle.
As product and process expertise grows within the Development Department, the activities of the ZF Group's largest clutch plant are well-supported in the pursuit of continuous improvement.
As part of the process of sourcing and managing customer projects for clutch applications in future vehicle platforms, the Development Department designs clutches according to customer specifications. The resulting design is guided using several simulations, including the finite element method and thermodynamic calculations. At the same time, prototypes are made and tested for their durability. Finally, Development Engineers assist in the implementation of the project in serial production. With regard to the product range of ZF Slovakia in Trnava, the Development Department is involved in the design and testing of torque converters and clutch linings.
Levice
Ball joints and stabilizers are some of the chassis components. They are made of steel, but also plastic. Technologies for turning, heat treatment and resistance welding technologies are used, as well as automated assembly equipment with circular turntables. Ball joints connect the vehicle/axle body to the wheel mounting bracket.
They ensure that the wheel in the vertical position moves dynamically within the necessary limits when turning. By their nature and positioning, the joints act as safety components ensuring the safe driving of the vehicle.
The shock absorber in a vehicle is the most important part of its chassis. It ensures that the wheel is in constant contact with the road, even when cornering, or braking abruptly. In addition, the shock absorber effectively eliminates vibrations of the vehicle's chassis. The passenger car shock absorber is a hydraulic system where kinetic energy is converted into heat. In Levice, we manufacture shock absorbers with a twin-tube design and two valves that control the flow of oil. The hydraulic system is assembled on automated assembly lines. Conventional valve technologies such as PLV valves and SDC valves are also assembled here.Clutches and converters are drivetrain components. They are manufactured in Levice and used for assembly operations at other ZF plants.
In 2010, another plant was built in Levice in the former industrial area "Levitex", where the production segment of drive components placed small-series assembly of clutches. The Levitex campus has expanded to include the production of front and rear shock absorber suspension modules.
Nové Mesto nad Váhom
The ZF plant in Nové Mesto nad Váhom is located on newly built premises and is oriented towards personal and operational safety in cars. The plant specializes in assembling power steering, which it distributes among leading automakers operating in Slovakia and internationally. This plant plays a crucial role in implementing ZF's pioneering by-wire control system.
The company currently employs more than 350 people and, in addition to Assembly, there are supporting departments for Quality Control, Logistics, Purchasing and Engineering.
Every supplier or carrier who provides services to ZF Active Safety Slovakia s.r.o. is required to book an unloading or loading time window in the Time Window Management System. You can log in at http://dock-management.eu/Account/Login.aspx
The main goal of the Time Window Management System is to achieve minimal downtime for trucks waiting for unloading or loading material, systematic work with records, and immediate information for planners about any delays. A detailed Time Window Management System manual will be sent to each supplier or carrier.
Šahy
The plant in Šahy is a satellite opertion for the production of dampening technology in Levice. The plant already employs almost 300 people. The main production program of the Šahy plant consists of welded outer shock absorber tubes for shock absorbers, which are delivered to the Levice plant. The production facilities of the Šahy plant include modern welding lines. All these machines represent the technical excellence in the engineering industry and are highly automated.
