ZF Trainees are a group of young people taking part in the ZF Global Trainee Program. In the #traineeblog they give insights about the life as a ZF Trainee.
Four weeks ago a couple of former trainees and the majority of our cohort ventured off to Austria for an epic ski weekend called “Winterwahnsinn”. As the name of the event translates, it was indeed a weekend of madness. Every type of madness was covered; firstly the arrival was very exciting! Snow was falling so strong that a part of our group were stuck on the slippery roads and had to be rescued by a few other trainees picking up snow chains! This ended up being quite difficult, a trip that was supposed to last 1.5 hours ended up taking more than 3 hours.

Secondly, the weather was definitely not one you would picture for a perfect skiing weekend, you know; foggy, windy and as already said strongly snowing all the time. On the first day, only one slope opened and for the ones that were already there (avoiding late night travel) they had to stick to this one slope for the majority of the day. This really didn’t matter at moment, given the excitement of skiing for the first time this year and if you look on the positive side, at the end of the day these guys knew every corner of this mountain.
Anyhow, as night time drew closer and everybody was safe and comfortable at the hut, we were able to have a fun filled evening together. “Looping Louie” and “Stapelmännchen” made appearances, as well as our own private DJ.

On day 2, the weather was not getting any better, but our sports fanatics woke up early to be the first ones on the slope. Given the new falling snow, it was wonderful powder that let all of us enjoy some prime skiing, from the beginners having their first skiing experience to the deep snow skiers.
Separated by the skiing experience levels during the day, at some points we found the opportunity to spend time together in places like the lifts, lunchtime and of course the infamous Après ski party…

Finally on the third day, cleaning time arrived and besides the usual cleaning activities we had to dig out our cars because they were lost in the mass of snow…madness again! Nevertheless, this didn’t stop us to do some activities afterwards, like skiing and a wonderful snow shoe tour that lead to an impressive winter landscape.
Definitely, in was an amazing weekend full of winter madness! We look forward to being invited by the next batch ;)
Cheers,
Anja
