Glass diamonds, the symbol for the ZF Excellence Award, sparkled for the fourth time everywhere at ZF’s Friedrichshafen headquarters. It was the final round of this ZF internal competition, in which employees from all Divisions, regions and functions can submit their most successful projects.

After juries in North- and South-America, Europe and Asia made a preselection, the 15 best international teams presented their projects to the Board of Management and the members of the Executive Management Group. At the event, CEO Wolf-Henning Scheider emphasized how important it is for ZF to tear down knowledge silos and to have employees share their experiences with each other instead.

In an exciting final round, the jury members determined the winners in the five categories and awarded a special prize for the Best Performing Plant of 2018. “The Excellence Award shows the enormous potential and entrepreneurial spirit of the people in our company. The submitted projects provide a valuable impulse with great benefits for the entire Group and our customers,” says Dr. Franz Kleiner, Member of the Board of Management and sponsor of the ZF Excellence Award.

Sven Bohnert, responsible project manager of the competition, is also highly satisfied: “With 776 applications from more than 100 locations in 29 countries, the ZF Excellence Award 2018 set a new record. Participation increased significantly across the board. Once again, we have seen many projects that can be applied in other areas of our organization, thereby generating additional value for ZF.”

As a special thank you for their outstanding achievements, the five winning teams are invited to attend the ZF Technology Day 2019. At this exclusive event leading up to the IAA, corporate and divisional research and development teams will present their latest innovations to the Board of Management, the Supervisory Board and the global media.
