ZF has been supporting the racing teams since the start of the FIA Formula E Championship in 2014 by supplying electric drivelines and dampers. Since the 2019/2020 season, ZF has been the official technology partner of the Mahindra Racing Formula E Team. As part of the partnership, ZF developed a completely new electric driveline consisting of an electric motor, inverter and power electronics, as well as the transmission. The partnership gives ZF the opportunity to test future production technology under the toughest conditions at an early stage.

Since 2015, ZF has been supporting German racing driver Christian Engelhart, who has made a name for himself in GT racing in particular in recent years following his successes in the Porsche Carrera Cup. With many successes in almost all relevant 24h races in recent years, Christian will be demonstrating his driving skills especially in the ADAC GT Masters as well as the GT World Challenge Europe in the 2022 season. Christian Engelhart is also a ZF brand ambassador.

ZF Race Engineering has been supporting the WS Racing racing team since the 2022 season with the team-within-a-team "Girls Only by WS Racing". Part of the joint partnership, which in addition to "Girls Only" extends to all areas of WS Racing including karting and eSports, is the development of a chassis for the BMW M4 GT4 used by "Girls Only" in the Nübrburgring Endurance Championship (NLS) and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.

Since the 2022 EWC season, BMW Motorrrad Motorsport and ZF Race Engineering have been competing together as technical partners for race wins in the FIM EWC Motorcycle Endurance Championship. The BMW M1000 RR features a ZF-developed chassis consisting of a carbon telescopic fork and a multi-adjustable rear axle damper.

ZF Race Engineering has been a technical partner of the International German Motor Championship (IDM) since the 2022 season. Together with long-time partner Wilbers Products, ZF Race Engineering has developed an aluminum telescopic fork for the IDM Superbike class. The telescopic fork made its debut in the BMW M1000 RR from Wilbers BMW Racing and will be available for all makes in the Superbike class in the future.

Since the 2013 season, ZF has been an official supplier of Super GT, the most popular touring car racing series in Asia. The cars of the GT500 class have exclusively been using clutches from ZF Race Engineering in Schweinfurt since the 2014 season.

Since the 2018 season, ZF supports the Honda Team KUNIMTSU as a technical partner, which competes in the GT500 category in the Japanese Super GT series. Since then, Team Kunimitsu has already won two championship titles.

Partnership with tradition: Since the 1960s, ZF has been the namesake of the legendary SACHS curve at the Hockenheimring through its SACHS product brand.

ZF Race Engineering is now consistently expanding its long-standing partnership in the field of aftermarket tuning products with Tim Schrick and the SACHS Performance brand for the 2022 season by partnering with his racing team Roots Racing in motorsport. In the future, Tim Schrick will act as SACHS Performance brand ambassador and will be more involved in product development and testing.

Today's ZF Race Engineering GmbH has been a sponsoring partner of the DSK since 1975 (formerly Fichtel & Sachs) and supports it in its work in motorsport. The Deutscher Sportfahrer Kreis has represented the interests of active motorsport drivers and fans for 60 years. With 13,000 members, the DSK is the largest association of its kind in Europe and is involved in promoting mass sports, environmental work and safety in motorsports.

ZF Race Engineering continues its decades-long relationship with Swedish rallycross driver and current team boss Tommy Kristofferson. Together with his team Kristoffersson Motorsport and the 3-time FIA World Rallycross Champion, as well as Extreme E Champion Johan Kristoffersson, ZF Race Engineering will enter the FIA World Rallycross Championship, which will be electric for the first time in the 2022 season. Kristoffersson Motorsport relies on the FIA WRC World Champion suspension struts from ZF Race Engineering in Schweinfurt.

ZF Race Engineering and its Sachs Performance brand have been supporting the Track & Safety Days by TUNE IT! SAFE! The aim of the Track & Safety Days - which are also sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) - is to teach all tuning enthusiasts the basics of safe and legal tuning and, through the trackdays offered, to teach them how to drive their own vehicles safely on the road.

ZF, and ZF Race Engineering in particular, has always had close ties and proximity to the Würzburg Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences (FHWS) and the "Mainfranken Racing" Formula Student Team based there, thanks to its location in Schweinfurt. One example of the success of the cooperation and the quality of the education at the FHWS and the Formula Student Team is the large number of development engineers who have found their way to ZF Race Engineering and have become part of professional motorsports. A particular example is the fact that one of the founding members of Mainfranken Racing is now head of sales at ZF Race Engineering.
