MAXXUS™ 2.0 The Future of Air Disc Brakes

MAXXUS™ 2.0 The Future of Air Disc Brakes

The commercial vehicle industry has been rapidly adopting ADBs for all these reasons and because they also can provide excellent driver comfort and the precision needed for today’s advanced driving features in commercial vehicles. ADBs are the future of braking, and the MAXXUS™ 2.0 product line from WABCO is at the forefront of driving ADB technology adoption.

MAXXUS™ 2.0 – our 5th generation – is the result of more than 20 years of WABCO innovation and experience in single-piston air disc brake (ADB) technology. What does that mean for your operation?

Performance: The Future of Foundation Brakes – ADB Technology

Foundation brake assemblies of the future in commercial vehicles are trending to a focus on higher performance, lighter weight, and improved safety. This focus points to adoption of air disc brake (ADB) technology, with a move away from traditional drum and wedge brakes.

That means the MAXXUS 2.0 single-piston ADB is your smart choice because it offers up to 65% fewer parts* than double-piston technology, reducing complexity which can lead to faster, easier maintenance. Additionally, the use of redundant seals on both the guide pin and piston boot help ensure internal components are protected from dirt and debris damage; making for a more reliable brake solutions, optimized for advanced protection and increased uptime.

Need a lighter variant? That’s MAXXUS™ L2.0. Weighing just 67 lbs., MAXXUS L2.0 offers a 16% weight savings compared to the current generation ADB – MAXXUS 1.0. MAXXUS L2.0 offers the same updated features and high-quality performance as the MAXXUS 2.0, while covering more than 90% of U.S. standard truck applications.

Safety: MAXXUS™ 2.0 – The Lighter, Safer ADB Alternative

The commercial vehicle industry has recognized that air ADB technology can enable shorter stopping distances, and can help to provide stable braking, excellent driver comfort and precision needed for advanced driving features, all of which can contribute to safer operation. Safer operation improves uptime through fewer repairs and extended service intervals as well.

MAXXUS™ 2.0 – the latest generation single-piston ADB is the lightest truck ADB on the market† and features comparable output force to double-piston technology. Further, its redesigned active taper wear mitigation system ensures even pressure distribution on the brake pad surface resulting in even pad wear.

MAXXUS 2.0 also can make contributions to safety through its advanced adjuster mechanism designed to continuously adjust to maintain an optimal running clearance – even in extreme conditions – helping to provide a stable and consistent performance. And stopping is what brakes are all about – MAXXUS 2.0 offers 10% shorter stopping capabilities than FMVSS requirement.

MAXXUS 2.0 is an investment in driver and vehicle safety.

Driver Confidence and Comfort – Uptime and Improved Safety

Driver confidence and comfort can be key components to increasing uptime and improving safety. In addition to the confidence provided by shorter braking distances, drivers indicate a car-like feel to MAXXUS™ 2.0 ADBs. With less chatter and virtually no pulling or fading, MAXXUS 2.0 ADBs provide more consistent performance, even in extreme downhill or wet road conditions. All of which can combine to provide greater comfort and improved driver response.
