April 21, 2017
Karin Kelber was the former leader and supervisor of the ZF Global Trainee Program.
With the start of the new Trainee batch 2017/2018 there are some changes I want to tell you about.
With our ZF Global Trainee Program we prepare the trainees for future challenges as they are working on projects related to ZF strategy 2025 - ZF’s answer to the global trends. The trainees will become acquainted with our company at various domestic and international locations, independently complete projects, and assume responsibilities in teams. As a result of the involvement in different departments they will obtain cross-functional knowledge which enables them to establish a contact network throughout the entire ZF Group. Via various workshops and trainings on presentation techniques, project management and intercultural communication we will provide the trainees with important first-hand knowledge and skills for their job.
In consequence of the business requirements, other than in the past the trainees coming from our regions North America and Asia Pacific will complete three individual projects in their home countries, one project abroad.
From 2017 on we will offer for all trainees two starting points: July and October each year.
Again based on the needs of ZF, in 2017 we offer different tracks:
The Automotive Innovation & Digitalization Trainee completes his/her projects in various departments. You have the chance to explore topics such as Artificial Intelligence, E-Mobility, Safety, Digitalization, Connectivity or Autonomous Driving. At the end of the program you choose the area that offers the best career opportunities.
The Finance / Controlling Trainee respectively Materials Management Trainee rotates through various departments of his/her technical area of expertise and thus prepare specifically for the department hired for.
What we expect?
Our Trainees are considered potential future managers by the ZF Group, so we expect strong personalities that are charcterized by great communication skills, mobility, interdisciplinary interest, creativity as well as the ability to work independently and autonomously with a high degree of personal initiative in an international environment. Relevant internships in the above mentioned areas, international experience or work experience abroad and strong written and verbal English skills are essential, good knowledge of German would be an asset.
If you are a good fit for ZF – or ZF is a good fit for you – we will evaluate during the telephone interviews and the assessment centers. My tip for you: act as naturally as possible, you never know whom we are searching!
