ZF Trainees, January 27, 2017
ZF Trainees are a group of young people taking part in the ZF Global Trainee Program. In the #traineeblog they give insights about the life as a ZF Trainee.
Hello Everyone! Time and tide waits for none and it’s already been four months into the program! We the trainee batch of 2016-17 started off on the 4th of October 2016 at the ZF Forum in Friedrichshafen getting to know our peers and first duties as ZF employees.

With this year’s batch consisting of nine different nationalities, we now know more about each other’s countries than ever before. After our first official day in Friedrichshafen it was time to get to know each other in more detail and so we packed our bags and took off to the beautiful Schöne Aussicht in Viktorsberg, Austria for a week-long trip. During this trip we got introduced to some work related details at ZF from Karin and Eva to get started at our respective project locations. Apart from that we had loads of fun time doing morning sports, creative self-introductions, team building activities and what NOT! The fun continued with the former trainees (2015-16) joining us for some surprise games from our side ;) and some experience exchanges at the end of the week.

As the week came to a close, we got into work mode with our assigned projects waiting for us. In December we all caught up again for the first central event at Roggenbeuren. We were given a week long rigorous training in project management to handle future topics in the course of the program. It was a great opportunity to work on real life project management topics and situations as a team and a way to see how things can go right/wrong in real time. During the course of the week, we could feel the need of managing time, structure, content and also handling pressure of deliverables by practicing various “Role-Plays” throughout the week and we SURVIVED!. Apart from that, we also had some time for Zumba, Power yoga, Taboo etc. to ease off later during the day. Loads of takeaways, self-introspections, highlight moments spotted and noted and off we were, reporting back to our respective supervisors.

Snow fall always tempts you to get your skiing gear and slide off a cliff doesn’t it? That’s what we did this January. Most trainees met up to ski in the mountains of Kleinwalsertal, Austria before wrapping up our first projects in January and heading out to the production internship!
This is how the first four months look like! Can’t wait to step into the next phase of the trainee program to experience more fun, more learning and create memories!
