ZF Formula Student Driverless Challenge

At ZF, we are highly focused on autonomous driving and e-mobility. ZF is a major player in a very competitive field, with many companies racing to develop self-driving systems. Developing new technologies that have not been demonstrated before creates the need for clear development strategies and technical implementations.

Driverless Technology to the test

We help you to become even better!

Due to the challenges created by the rules for the FSG 2021 season, both ZF and Formula Student teams are facing similar challenges. In order to learn from your approaches to challenges in developing a driverless race car and to assist you with technical issues for the 2021 season, ZF is creating the ZF Formula Student Driverless Challenge.

As it is challenging to develop a car that autonomously drives low lap times at the acceleration and skid-pad events, we invite you to present your technical concept and implementation plan for an autonomous system in your Formula Student vehicle for the 2021 season.

Your presentation should focus on:

  • Project goals
  • Project plan including timing, resource allocation, and risks
  • Development strategy covering tools, documentation, knowledge management, etc.
  • High level technical information such as system architecture and system performance
  • How you plan to use the funding

What is in it for you?

The five selected teams will receive:
  • Coaching by two buddies from ZF.
  • Support in solving the technical challenges in autonomous driving.
  • Funding in the value of €3000. Apart from using this money for your presented solution, it also allows you to attend workshops and meetings at ZF.

At ZF Race Camp 2021 the best of these five teams will be announced as winner of the Formula Student Driverless Challenge.
