ZF AWARD,the efforts of teams or mechanics who support the teams that are competing in the SUPER GT, the awards are for teams who participated the most in each race, and consist of benefits to be assigned to the team.

Criteria for selection

  • Organizations that have an entry in the series
  • Are arranged on the final grid in each race (including pit-start)
  • Will be determined by their overall team play in both qualifying and the final race

    Mechanics worked until 3 o'clock in the morning on Sunday after the crash in the qualifying session. The car was also forced to start from the pit lane due to tyre change but the drivers made great efforts to climb to the 2nd place reawarding the hard work by the mechanics.

  • Winning reason: Despite suffering a crash at the joint tests held in Okayama in March, the hard work of these mechanics saw that the vehicle was repaired by the second day of tests at Mt Fuji held the following week. This they followed up with a superb pole position in the opening round. Although they didn't manage to take victory they completed the race in a commendable 6th place.

The car went on to display fast pace and reliability in the final race and the crew carried out rapid and mistake-free pit work that enabled it to secure the 2nd step on the podium. It is for this successful effort that we grant them this award.

Winning reason
Although their car went off course and crashed at SP Corner during official practice, the hard work of the mechanics ensured it was ready for qualifying. The drivers rewarded this hard work with an exemplary performance of their own to secure a 3rd place qualification. The entire team then went on to work late into the night and early in the morning on race day to work out any remaining kinks. It was this tireless effort that saw the team walk away with a 3rd place podium.

Winning Performance
Their tireless work rebuilt the machine in time for testing after suffering some serious damage in round 2 that saw victory slip out of their fingertips. They were also forced to rapidly repair damage suffered through a crash at SUGO that resulted in a retirement. Although their settings weren’t completely decided by official practice, by Q1 the car was almost perfect and impeccable pit work guided them to victory in the race.

Winning Performance
The team maintained the car in top form throughout practice and qualifying before sending it out into the race. Their tire selection for the final battle was perfect and pit work completely error free earring the team their first victory.

“This is all due to the engineers who devised a perfect setup, the drivers who utilized it and Yohokama who provided us with fantastic tires. We were able to get this result due to all the experience the team has built up together until now. We have pretty well maintained the same members since we were competing in the GT300. We have struggled to get the results we wanted since moving up into the GT500 but the steadfast teamwork from everyone got us across the line. I’m getting a little late in the years but I want to keep competing with all these guys.”

Due to the overall conditions of the machine / the drivers and the team,they decided to go with a strategy of not changing tires during the race. In order to carry out that strategy the mechanics had to ensure they had every aspect perfectly in line in order to carry out a steady race right until the finish line. So far they are 1 of only 2 teams that have taken two victories this season.

Having experienced machine trouble during round 3’s race held on the previous day, the team had parts brought in from their factory at Atsugi and worked throughout the night to restore their car. From there they managed to attain a phenomenal pole position and then engage in the top order fight for the championship, demonstrating just how well they had brought the car back to fighting form.

The winning team for the opening round of the prestigious SUPER GT at Okayama is the GT500 class’ #12 TEAM IMPUL-Reason for the award
Despite a broken catalyzer in Saturday’s official practice, which left the right side parts of the machine badly burned, the hard work of the mechanics enabled the car to make it to official qualifying where it managed to record an 8th fastest time.

Not only this, their swift work in the pits during the final race enabled the #12 to take a top 1 finish.

In this, the 2nd race since a change in crew members, the car was brought in with perfect settings that saw it mark the fastest time right from official practice, the first opportunity to try that machine’s setup. Following this, the car was kept in such fine condition that it could record the top time in Q1, Q2 and free practice. In the final race, they carried out two completely error-free pit stops and this perfect performance led the team to victory.

Winning reason "Despite a crash and vehicle fire at SUGO, these mechanics managed to re-build the machine in less than two weeks and have it ready in time for the race. Although they were on track with progressing the car's setup in the morning's free practice, when it came time for the warmup, clutch trouble left them unable to run. However, they were able carry out repairs in time to start the race from pit lane. Starting from almost the very tail end, they pulled out an amazing comeback to climb up to 4th and thrill the crowd. Although they had some hard luck at the end of the race, this award is bestowed on the team for their never-say-die fighting spirit.

Winning reason "Although they struggled with matching the tires to the wet road surface during qualifying and could only manage 12th place on the grid, their setup for the final race was flawless and this greatly assisted the drivers.
As was to be expected from defending champions, their work during the race was impeccable and mistake-free. In particular, although they pitted one lap later, they displayed some superb execution that saw them finish 3 seconds faster than the #12 GT-R.
This allowed them to a achieve an amazing reversal and contributed to their second championship in a row. This award is being bestowed in recognition of this fantastic teamwork.

Reasons for winning
Despite an accident that occurred during testing prior to round 4, which resulted in the car catching fire, the mechanics worked day and night without break to remake the car and have it ready for race week in just under two weeks. This effort and their error-free pit work during the race contributed to a commendable 8th place finish and it is for this reason that they have been chosen for the ZF Award for Best Mechanics of the Year.

The first mechanics to be awarded the ZF Award for outstanding performance during Race Week areThe #1 LEXUS TEAM ZENT CERUMO.The team has been awarded for their handling of the following incident.

An unusual oil leak during the free runs on qualification day.
Still unsure of the cause they headed into the qualifiers with a good deal of concern.
After qualifying the mechanics worked throughout the night to discover the source of the problem and return the car to perfect form.

They succeeded in placing a race ready machine onto the starting grid.
Unfortunately they had to pull out of the race due to contact with another vehicle.
Races can’t be competed with the driver alone.

It’s because of the mechanics that the drivers can challenge these harsh races.
ZF is dedicated to showing support for these mechanics this season.

The second mechanics to be awarded the ZF Award for outstanding performance during Race Week are#19 LEXUS TEAM WedsSport BANDOH.From fuel system trouble that has them up till 1:00am on the first day, to repair work for troubleshooting keeping them up until 2:00am the night after qualifying,

to trouble with the drive system on race day…WedsSport BANDOH’s mechanics are a collection of veterans of relatively senior age. Still, they work diligently, even foregoing sleep, to perfect the machine for their drivers. It goes without saying that this effort from the mechanics builds immense trust which enables the drivers to confidently race in their vehicles. ZF strongly backs these kinds of mechanics.Please also keep a look out for the winning team from the next round at Autopolis.

The third mechanics to be awarded the ZF Award for outstanding performance during Race Week areGT 300 #55 AUTOBACS RACING TEAM AGURI.Beginning from a qualification 2nd the vehicle maintains its placing and enters the pits at the mid point of the race.

The mechanics carry out fantastic teamwork to implement the driver change, refueling, tire changes and so on to put the car back out on the track and see it grab 1st. It was a tumultuous race that saw the dispatch of the SC but it ended with a splendid victory.In today’s SUPER GT you can’t achieve victory through the smooth racing of the driver alone.

We would like all the fans to also turn their attention to the battle that is happening with the mechanics in pit lane. To that end SF is throwing its support behind these amazing mechanics. Please keep a look out for the winning team in the next round at SUGO.

They made it through this race weekend without any trouble. While on race day the competition frequently fell mercy to the fickle weather conditions, they stuck with slicks and, after only carrying out one tire change, they went from 18th to finish in 2nd.

The work of the mechanics doesn’t stop at the circuit. They also work day in, day out at the factory both before and after the race.

The ZF award is presented to mechanics who display an outstanding performance over race week. The 6th award went to the GT500 class #24 KONDO RACING.

In a semi-endurance 1000km race, the high level technical skills of the mechanics are essential in the pits. Despite having the most pit stops at this event and several tire changes, KONDO RACING still managed to finish the race in the points sphere. It goes without saying that this result could not have been possible without the teamwork and superior technical skills of the mechanics. For this reason ZF would like to commend these mechanics.

The ZF Award is granted to mechanics who have exhibited phenomenal performance during race week.

For this SUPER GT Thailand round, team IMPUL’s “IMPUL GT-R” experienced technical issues in Q1 which meant they were unable to advance to Q2 and began the race from 10th on the grid. In the final race an accident saw starting driver, Yasuda, fall even further down to to the tail end, however he would steadily climb back through the back.

After the wheel was handed over to Oliveira, he went on to put in a tough fight throughout the tumultuous race and they passed the checkered flag in an impressive 3rd place. This ZF Award is bestowed upon the entire team, with team principal Hoshino at its head, for being able to overcome issues such as technical troubles and accidents to bring home an exemplary result.

With drivetrain trouble on Saturday, then sensor issues on Sunday they were unable to drive in the essential warm up sessions but somehow managed to safely get the machine out for the starting grid. When dealing with a race car, right until the end of the race, there's no telling what can happen. When something unexpected occurs, the mechanics do everything in their power to deal with it, no matter what it is. ZF continues to support the efforts of these amazing mechanics.

In a race, the mechanics,engineers, managers and drivers all compete together as a whole unit. Racing in the SUPER GT, renowned as a series where consecutive victories are extremely difficult, they took two wins in a row beginning from the opening round. After this, despite meeting with various troubles, the team steadily worked throughout the year to consistently take home points and successfully attain the driver’s championship. ZF will continue to support the efforts of mechanics at racing stages around the world.
