The President is surprised and delighted, festival spirit comes in the form of a football idol and the opening of the school is broadcast on state television: A fundraising project run by ZF employees causes a sensation throughout the whole of Senegal.

Girls and boys surround their idol, want to touch him, take photos and talk to him. El Hadji Diouf, who propelled Senegal into the 2002 Football World Cup and then sensationally led them into the quarterfinal, is here. A sensation for children and young people living in the Médina Chérif community, isolated in the south of the country. In addition, Minister of Education Serigne Mbaye Thiam is the first high-ranking government representative who has visited the remote region. This turned the opening of a school financed by the "ZF hilft" fundraising project at the turn of the year 2013/2014 into a real festival, which was broadcast on state television's main news program.

A fundraising project run by ZF employees causes a sensation throughout the whole of Senegal.

ZF employees donated around 550,000 euros, far more than originally expected, which enabled the "UNESCO – Education for Children in Need" foundation to build more than just a school for over 500 girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 15 in the south Senegalese province. A well provides the students with clean drinking water and improves hygiene. A cafeteria and school vegetable garden set important foundations for a balanced diet and rapid learning success for the children. There are also various sports facilities and a library.

This alone is reason enough to celebrate. But it was football idol El Hadji Diouf's spontaneous decision to make an appearance in particular that provided the opening of the school with a festival atmosphere.
