On June 1st and 2nd, 2017, the ZF Race Camp took place for the tenth time – the final test for the new "Formula Student" season. On board: around 700 students and 32 racing cars.

The topic of driverless cars was the focus of this year's ZF Race Camp for the first time. According to the motto "Transforming Transport – The vision of intelligent mobility" the participants of the ZF Race Camp Talk discussed with Stefan Pabst, philosopher and physicist at the Zurich Think Tank for Economics, Science and Society W.I.R.E.

A total of 24 racing teams from Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Italy registered for the ZF Race Camp. The test run before the Formula Student design competition at Hockenheimring. They started with 32 vehicles – every second thereof are electric bolides and for the first time also six driverless cars. A total of 700 students were on the trade fair grounds. In addition, more than 60 ZF-engineers and experts from different technical departments from all over Germany have given advice and supported the teams.
