The steering and suspension components are safety parts subject to special care in design, production and assembly.
It is necessary for them to offer optimum operating safety under the highly differing vehicle operating situations, which can occur under the influence of or regardless of the driver.
Always observe the installation instructions of the OE manufacturer to ensure proper function of the parts.
Fundamentals
1. As a matter of principle always install new nuts
2. Never reuse nuts which have been removed
Always replace safety nuts with nylon stop thread or pinched thread.
3. Tighten nuts to specified torque
The necessary adjustment values are given in the manufacturer‘s specifications
4. Ensure that contact surfaces on the taper are clean and free of grease
Before installing a joint ensure that the journal on the component to be installed as well as the inner wall of the mount in the steering knuckle is clean and free of grease. Otherwise the taper can go beyond the installation depth in the steering knuckle and severely impede its operation.
