Remanufactured components are completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected and measured to ensure that they remain within proper design tolerances. If they do not, then they are replaced. The complete unit is technically updated to the latest ZF technical service standards, and then tested according to the same protocol as new production units.

Some remanufacturers or rebuilders just take apart the failed component, what is faulty or broken is fixed, and then it is reassembled. Some of these products may be supplied with the ZF logo, but they are neither original nor genuine ZF.
