Workshops

Workshop facility in Nottingham

At ZF Services in Nottingham we can offer remanufacturing across all ZF product ranges from our 6500 m2 of dedicated and well equipped workshops. To meet specific customer / market requirements we have developed demand-based turnaround times and variable volume planned capacity to deliver a flexible approach to service exchange programmes, remanufacturing, repair and overhaul.

With 60 ZF technicians comprehensively trained to ZF’s stringent technical standards we are able to offer unparalleled facilities for the remanufacture, repair and overhaul of transmissions, axles and steering systems for cars, bus & coach and ships, from mobile cranes to trains as well as special applications such as wind turbines.

Within our Workshops we operate an extensive internal Audit programme to ensure all units are completed to highest level of Workmanship and all processes are regularly reviewed for consistency. All products are 100% tested to ZF's exacting test protocols and with over 2 million invested into our test equipment our dedicated Test and Quality Department ensures that our Test Capabilities far exceed the highest industrial standards.

Due to our extensive facilities and driveline expertise ZF Services now provides workshop service support beyond the ZF product portfolio, which gives our customers more flexibility with ‘all makes’ programmes and applications where quality assurance and technical capabilities are required.

Stock and Procurement

Stock management and parts procurement is paramount in meeting both the customers and market expectations. ZF Service Exchange Programme enables availability of ZF units on a same day or overnight delivery service and without the customer holding the burden of inventory costs. To support the workshop and UK activities over 4 million in spare parts and completed units are stocked at any given time in Nottingham.

To ensure accountability and availability, all stock is held on computer with spares being securely stored within vertical shuttles and carousels. Overnight deliveries from the ZF plants in Europe provide additional benefits and where non ZF parts are not readily available we can offer specialist procurement and reverse engineering solutions.

Cleaning Process

Product cleanliness is paramount in the reman / repair / overhaul process so innovative and bespoke cleaning systems have been developed to ensure that the product and its components can be correctly cleaned & identified to enable a comprehensive inspection during disassembly and failure mode analysis stage. Premature failure and reliability problems are usually attributed to poor component cleaning.

Prior to being stripped and examined units are wet blast in a separate building away from the inspection, assembly and test areas. Apart from returning the unit to an ‘as new’ appearance any dirt and debris is isolated.
