Expertise in electronics is particularly important for hybrid technology. Its not enough to just install electric engines, performance electronics and batteries alongside the combustion engine in a parallel hybrid system; if you want to achieve fuel consumption savings, all these components need to work in perfect harmony.

This is where performance electronics have an important roll to play. ZF hybrid systems are scalable for different performance classes, which means that the performance electronics have to be multifaceted. The converters can power electric engines with any number of speeds in addition to asynchronous motors (ASM) such as permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM).

Energy management from one source

Successful hybrid systems do not just require sufficient electrical energy to ensure forward movement. The vehicle’s electronic system also requires energy the whole time. This is taken care of by the on-board transformer, which is integrated into the system’s architecture. A CAN bus controls the system, its integration into the operating strategy, and its energy management.

The electronic control unit significantly influences the 9HP's characteristics and enables the selection of the ideal gear in every driving situation – unnoticed by the driver.
