Driveline Technology and Chassis Technologie

The ZF ERGOPOWER Hybrid offers significant fuel savings, an increase in operational productivity and a clear reduction of exhaust emissions. This innovation also significantly lowers operating costs.

In twos, strong and environmentally friendly

The ZF hybrid module was developed on the basis of the proven ERGOPOWER series and is the logical next step toward an electrical and resource- and environmentally-friendly drive. ZF offers hybrid technology covering electric machinery and complete hybrid systems, all from a single source. The ZF hybrid system is suitable for all ZF transmission types, and can be used in both direct and separate transmission mounting.

Features of the ZF hybrid system

The ZF ERGOPOWER Hybrid works as a parallel hybrid with a powerful electric motor that delivers up to 85 or 120 kilowatts of power, depending on size. The full hybrid system includes a lithium-ion battery and a hybrid controller in addition to the power electronics for the electric machinery. Combination with other ZF transmissions, such as the cPOWER, HL or HC 85, is also possible. Together with the components of the EFFICIENCY PACKAGE, fuel savings of up to 20% and productivity increases of up to 40% are possible.

Benefits at a glance

  • Reduction in fuel use through the start-stop function
  • Recuperation (recovery) of brake energy
  • Shift of the engine's operating point (automatic selection of the gear with the least consumption)
  • Relief for the particulate filter burner through engine stabilization
  • Electrified auxiliaries
  • Reduction of exhaust emissions through engine stabilization and shift of the engine's operating point
  • Possibility of downsizing the engine
  • Increase in operational productivity through a performance boost (simultaneous use of both engines)
  • Reduced operating costs through lower consumption and simplified exhaust aftertreatment systems
