ZF 2 WG 20 (66 kW) and 2 WG 35 (92 kW) the first 2-speed reversing gear transmissions are produced in Passau from 1963 to 1975. (total of 5,800 transmissions)
The first generation of planetary steering axles PLA 5000 and planetary rigid axles PSA 7000 for construction machinery with drum brake are introduced to series production. (total of 18,000 axles till 1975)
1966: Start of production of PW line. (powershift transmission in planetary construction)
1970 – 1980
The planetary transmissions PW 18, 25 and 45 with up to 200 kW are produced till the mid 80s.
The planetary steering axles APL and the planetary rigid axles AP for axle loads from 4.000 to 36.000 kg are equipped with integrated drum- or disc brakes.
Round about 165 different models with arround 650 variants are manufactured at ZF Passau.
In 1976 the PK 4100 for concrete mixer drum drives starts production.
1980 – 1990
1981: ZF Passau is producing the new concrete mixer transmission P 3200/4200/5300 with integrated hydro motor.
1985: The new powershift reversing transmissions WG 100 to WG 65 for construction machinery are representing a complete hydro-media line for all-wheel-drives with up to 6-speeds from 105 to 260.
1986: The existing series AP 400 is upgraded with the axle types AP 403 to AP 425. This implies a collective range with axle loads from 7 to 30 tons.
1990 – 2000
1990: The axle transfer gearbox 2 HL 100 for hydrostatic drive of mobile excavators from 10 to 20 tons can successfully be launched in the market.
1992: Start of production of the new axle series APL 2000 for backhoe loaders.
1995: The PLM-transmission for concrete mixers is introduced to serial production.
1997: Completely new engineered powershift transmission line called ZF-ERGOPOWER. Gear shift virtually without loss of traction is one of the main features of the new transmission.
2000 – 2010
2004: The new axles MT-E 3060 and MS-E 3060 for mobile excavator drivelines and the HL 250 transmission with the swing drive DR 250 are introduced to serial production.
2005: Within the scope of construction machinery axles the product structure is enhanced to a modular construction system.
With the EFFICIENCY PACKAGE ZF consolidates its competence in the transmission, axle and software development. This approach makes it possible to reconcile the frequently conflicting demands for enhanced comfort, increased productivity, less consumption and reduced component wear.
