"Reclining seats, climate control, AS Tronic." This is how a coach operator describes the effortless travel on coaches. But the transmission as a factor in ride comfort? Or as an important equipment feature? During the development of the AS Tronic automatic transmission, the needs of the passenger were placed at the top of the list of priorities. The AS Tronic, with its electronically controlled gear shifts, not only ensures a smooth ride for passengers, it also makes life a lot easier for the driver. AS Tronic gives the driver the freedom to choose between push-button manual or automatic gear shifting. Removing the work of manual gear shifting allows the driver to focus his full attention on the traffic situation.
Safety first
Safety has top priority in carrying passengers - much more important than a powerful engine is the need for properly working brakes. To prevent fading under constant braking, retarders relieve the brakes of much of their workload (80 to 90 percent). The service brakes remain cool and fully operational when needed. In contrast to other manufacturers' retarders, the ZF Intarder is an integral part of the transmission. An extremely effective cooling circuit extends the service life of the fluid. Five braking steps allow additional control.
