2011/12/19 ZF 8-Speed Automatic Transmission Receives Award in China
ZF Friedrichshafen has received another award for its 8-speed automatic transmission (8HP). In an award ceremony at the Beijing Auto Museum, China Automotive News – one of the top automotive journals in China – declared the 8HP "Transmission of the Year 2011". Crucial for the decision were the fuel savings of the multi-ratio transmission without having to accept any trade-offs in performance. This supplier award, presented for the very first time, recognizes the power of innovation of BMW suppliers and their relevance as success factors for the automobile manufacturer. Also in the Russian market, ZF Friedrichshafen AG is on a success course with its bus product portfolio: In 2011, Moscow transportation authorities alone have ordered more than 2,000 low-floor city buses equipped with driveline, chassis, and steering technology by the ZF-Group. The entire order goes to the largest Russian automotive group, the GAZ Group. ZF is presenting a new all-wheel drive system at the European All-Wheel Drive Congress (EAWD) 2011 in Graz. Through its automatic decoupling function, over-consumption resulting from the operating principle of all-wheel drive vehicles can be reduced to a minimum. In December 2010, the 100,000th current-generation commercial vehicle transmission Ecomid was built in the ZF plant in Bouthéon. With a torque range of 1,000 to 1,300 Nm, the 9-speed manual transmission is adapted to the needs of medium-duty trucks.
