2008/11/30 Special prizes for ZF racing teams

• • In appreciation of excellent performance in the ‘Formula Student’ racing car construction competition
  • Teams from Delft, Netherlands and Stuttgart, Germany honored

The two ZF-sponsored ‘Formula Student’ teams from Delft, Netherlands and Stuttgart, Germany have received the ‘Best ZF Team Race’ and the ‘Best ZF Team Design’ special prizes respectively. Both teams impressed with their performance excellence at the ‘Formula Student Germany’ racing car construction competition at the Hockenheimring race track in Baden-Württemberg last August. There they presented their self-constructed racing cars in a multi-faceted competition against student teams from around the world.

The ZF-sponsored team from the Delft University of Technology received the internally presented ‘Best ZF Team Race’ award for its top overall result. During the summer, the Delft students prevailed over more than 80 other teams by winning the ‘Formula Student Germany’ overall title. Meanwhile, the ZF-sponsored team from Stuttgart University received the internally presented ‘Best ZF Team Design’ special award for best technical innovation and construction excellence. “Factors like innovation and performance are highly valued at ZF,” remarked Ralf Heller, Vice President Corporate HR Development at ZF, who together with Dr. Hans-Jörg Domian, Senior Manager of Advanced Chassis and Driveline Engineering at ZF, award both prizes to the student teams.

ZF sponsors a total of 14 racing teams at the ‘Formula Student’ competition, and also organizes the ‘ZF Race Camps’. At this racing and construction event most recently held last June on the trade show grounds in Friedrichshafen, Germany, the ZF-sponsored teams have the chance to test their vehicles and talk with ZF engineers and human resources personnel.
