Tradition Driving Experience

ZF and Bosch are Organizing Driver Training Especially for Classic Car Drivers

On April 30 and May 1, 2011, the owners of classic and modern classic cars have a so far unique opportunity: they can participate in a driver training that is organized by ZF Tradition and Bosch Automotive Tradition under the title "Tradition Driving Experience" and is especially tailored to drivers of classic vehicles. Also participating are: famous and well-experienced instructors like the German rallye champions Harald Demuth and Matthias Kahle with his co-pilot Peter Göbel as well as the experienced rallye drivers Horst Lars Müller and Jürgen Schramek, the test expert. The two-day individual training with eight challenging sections will take place at Bosch's test track in Boxberg.

Hundreds of classic car events per year attract many drivers and co-drivers with their classic vehicles. Often, these special automobiles are only driven a few kilometers per year - and sometimes their current owners are even younger than the vehicles themselves. For this reason, a save and familiar handling at classic car rallies and constancy tests is difficult for drivers who are used to electronic equipment in every day driving. The co-drivers are in a similar situation during journeys or historic rallies: orientation and reading of road books need a lot of exercise.

Safe driving training

A driver training especially for drivers of classic or modern classic cars helps in a sustainable way to avoid critical situations and to protect the valuable vehicle.

Surprisingly, there was no such training so far. In joint action, the tradition specialists of the two big German automotive suppliers ZF and Bosch as well as renowned professional rallye drivers are offering a solution to this problem: together with the German rallye champions Harald Demuth and Matthias Kahle with his co-pilot Peter Göbel as well as the experienced rallye drivers Horst Lars Müller and Jürgen Schramek, the test expert, the classic pros came up with a special program that is tailored to the needs of classic car drivers with sporty ambitions: in two days (2011-4-30 / 2011-5-1), the participants, who bring their own vehicle, will learn everything from basic knowledge to the save handling of the vehicle during the practice-oriented eight modules of the training.

Peter Göbel, one of the most successful co-drivers of German rallying, offers a separate training for co-drivers. Here, co-drivers learn from the experience of a pro, how to handle the road book or several stopwatches at a time or what to do during a light barrier or tire test.

The participation fee of EUR 890 per person for the driver training and EUR 450 for the co-driver training includes the hotel for one night (Saturday to Sunday) and food. A fireside chat is also planned as part of the program - the ideal opportunity to exchange details on the experience of handling classic cars and to learn more from the pros.
