ZF in motorsport
The fascination of motorsport
ZF components and systems contribute to the success of Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher and rally legend Walter Röhrl, at Le Mans and in the Paris-Dakar Rally, in Grand Prix cars and heavy-duty racing trucks and in many more motorsports events.
Running on Sachs ball bearings, Mercedes garnered had its first motorsport success in 1914 in a “Grand Prix with an international field.” In 1937, the legendary Mercedes Silver Arrows (W 125), equipped with Sachs alloy ribbed shock absorbers and clutches and ZF self-locking differentials, raced to one win after another. In the fifties, the Silver Arrows achieved more successes with Juan Manuel Fangio.
