ZF Electronics GmbH
With the acquisition of the Cherry Corporation and the foundation of ZF Electronics GmbH, ZF Friedrichshafen AG is further expanding its position as a leading automotive supplier. With the acquisition, ZF is increasing its profile in a specialist area that is growing in importance: electronic controls and their integration.
Company profile
The electronic components business segment profits from the knowledge and experience of a leading global company. The Cherry Corporation was founded in 1953 in the United States. The company develops and produces switches, sensor technology, controls and electronic modules for the automobile industry, components for industrial and household device applications as well as computer input devices. Mechatronics and electronics are now an integral part of the automobile. This applies to ZF systems as well: automatic transmission, dynamic stability control and variable surge baffle systems display their qualities primarily through sophisticated electronic controls and their programming. Cherry's comprehensive know-how flows for example into mechatronic modules, sensor modules, operating switches, gearshift modules and Keyless Entry electronics.
