Success story

ZF in Maserati

It's not every day that a carmaker uses the name of a supplier and its product in brand advertising. When Maserati introduced the redesigned Quattroporte sedan, the company placed great emphasis on the ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. For good reason – and with great success.

Attract new customers with ZF transmissions

The latest version of the high-end Maserati Quattroporte features a new engine and the highly successful ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. For the first time in company history, Maserati presented the new model in commercials shown on German television. The main focus was on the ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. The Quattroporte was equipped with the ZF transmission primarily for U.S. market, where customers are accustomed to driving long distances and place high priority on driving comfort. The American market accounts for 45% of Maserati car sales. Thanks to the new automatic transmission, Maserati sold roughly 250 Quattroportes in Germany in 2007. Around 80% of all Maserati Quattroportes sold in 2007 were equipped with ZF 6-speed automatic transmissions.
