Always a lap ahead

With the incorporation of ZF’s shift-by-wire system, the Audi A8 brings all the advantages of an electronic transmission together.

The Audi A8 is equipped with ZF’s Servotronic speed-dependent steering, and active steering is available as an option. It has a variable steering ratio that automatically adjusts to any driving situation. This increases driving comfort with a smaller steering angle at low speeds and improves safety at high speeds. The active steering automatically adjusts to evasive maneuvers and sudden side winds, independently of the driver.

Driving comfort redefined

ZF’s Continuous Damping Control (CDC) system gives the Audi A8 significantly better safety and comfort – with undiminished handling. In a fraction of a second a control device evaluates the wheel and lateral acceleration and regulates damping force to each drive wheel separately. This allows the dampers to adjust individually to any driving situation, which resolves the conflicting goals of comfort and handling. Additionally, CDC reduces the car’s lateral tilt on curves.
