Living and working in balance

Flexible work schedules

The wide range of options for improving the work-life balance, especially those aimed at compatibility between job and family, play an important role in ZF human resources policies. Flexible work schedules primarily benefit employees who want to spend more time with their families.

Compatibility between work and family

In 2006, ZF successfully conducted the berufundfamilie® audit, which is designed to appraise family-oriented programs. At ZF, these programs include telecommuting jobs, various flextime work schedules, arranging daycare for children, and local vacation and emergency care. The company also supports parents returning to work. Some ZF sites offer special 'stay in touch' programs for employees who are on parental leave or participating in training programs.

Initiatives for childcare

A joint arrangement between ZF and the city of Friedrichshafen aimed at providing daycare for pre-school children was established in 2002. The company is planning similar initiatives at other ZF sites in Germany. A childcare locator service helps arrange babysitters along with daycare during vacations or on short notice.

Preventative Healthcare

Work-life balance at ZF is also aimed at fostering health awareness and practicing it through prevention. Special strategies are developed to help keep people healthy, motivated and productive. This long-term concept is need-oriented and adaptable to ensure sustainable success.
