Compact transmission unit

The AS Tronic is an automatic transmission system for trucks and coaches. The complete, ready-to-install unit integrates all shifting and control elements. The automatic coordination of engine, clutch, and transmission protect the entire driveline to minimize wear and servicing. The AS Tronic drive management system not only offloads the driver, but also the vehicle's power transmitting driveline components. The electronics calculate the optimal gear step and shift timing, controls the clutch and shift sequences, and coordinates them with the engine control system. In addition, the integrated Intarder provides safe braking and lowers wear and tear on the main brakes. This harmony in the driveline reduces stress peaks and wear, and, as a result, it increases service life.

Highly integrated

The mechatronic module shown here in the picture is integrated into the transmission. This is one of many measures to optimize the longevity of a transmission system as complicated as the AS Tronic. Numerous elements which used to have interfaces to the outside are spatially and functionally integrated. In this way, the mechatronic controls the clutch modul and automatically changes gears. As a result, there is now a compact transmission that is easy to install in the vehicle.
