AS Tronic (Civ. Cranes)
The ZF-AS Tronic transmission system is a combination of an electronically-pneumatically shifted constant mesh gearbox and an automated dry clutch. The main components, including dry separation clutch, are fully integrated in an alloy casing.
An electronic engine control unit and CAN communication must be in place before the ZF-AS Tronic transmission system can be used. For the time being the ZF-AS Tronic versions 12 AS 2302 and 12 AS AS 3002 are in operation. If applications with less torque are required the version ZF-AS Tronic mid is available
Function & Benefit
The complete, ready-to-install unit integrates all shifting and control elements. The automatic coordination of engine, clutch, and transmission protect the entire driveline to minimize wear and servicing. The AS Tronic drive management system not only offloads the driver, but also the vehicle's power transmitting driveline components. The electronics calculate the optimal gear step and shift timing, controls the clutch and shift sequences, and coordinates them with the engine control system. In addition, the integrated Intarder provides safe braking and lowers wear and tear on the main brakes. This harmony in the driveline reduces stress peaks and wear, and, as a result, it increase service life.
